Darkly Bright Press is a small, independent book publisher with a focus on Uncommon Literature & Liturgical Christianity. Inspired by Welsh writer Arthur Machen’s emphasis on ecstasy in literature, our mission is to curate and spotlight such works by past voices and provide a platform for new authors, poets and artists.
Each volume published by Darkly Bright serves as an exploration and celebration of classical views on theology, personhood and the cosmos. By delving deeply into the mystical oeuvre of Arthur Machen… by traversing the moonlit lyrics of Joshua Alan Sturgill… by arriving to hear the day-song verses of Gaelan Gilbert, the reader discovers books which sing of journey. Through a delicate paradox, ineffable mysteries uncover hidden truth.
For early 2020, we are pleased to announce a new section to the site entitled Thin Places: Fairy Tales & Ghost Stories. Our imprint, Little Candle Press will be publishing new children stories by Claire Brandenburg. And finally, we will continue to issue classic work by figures such as Arthur Machen and Arthur Christopher Benson, while releasing new collections by contemporary poets.
