The Ancient Modern

Between Two Lives  /  Joshua Alan Sturgill

A butterfly tethered
by a silk thread
to a willow tree.         I
am the silk thread.    Do
not mistake me
for the butterfly.
Slight, and always     almost
about to break,         nothing
in me compares
to the willow tree
