Prayers of Incomprehension / Joshua Alan Sturgill
I know not why I want.
I never reach what I require.
Longing is a land untilled.
Show me what I should desire
I know not why I think.
Awareness, mere capacity.
Consciousness goes unfulfilled.
Show me what I should believe
I know not why I speak

Over sound is more sound spilled.
Show me what I should request
I know not why I fight.
The war obscures both means and ends.
Strategy is death, self-willed.
Show me what I should defend
I know not why I drink
shallow hopes in hollow rooms.
Drunkenness is fate distilled.
Show me what I should consume
I know not who I am.
A cask awaiting ripened plums?
Barley pearled, yet unmilled?
Show me what I should become
