The whole cosmos passes
through the living lens
and appears
(inverted, undiminished)
in the anteroom
of the eye
— like a guest
arriving with solemnity
at a king’s palace.
What messenger
brings word to the Heart
deep in counsel, deep
in contemplation? Reason
knocking quietly, enters
with a bow. Your Grace,
may I announce:
with her collegium of stars,
the Moon
