The Ancient Modern
Disparate / Joshua Alan Sturgill
The Language
and the Meaning
were driven out of Paradise.
How long
can they remain
each within the other
under a roof of reeds,
constrained by walls of clay?
Language dallies
where Meaning is unwelcome,
while Meaning nurses
a bitter solitude. Strangers
at the End of All;
indifferent
that the End of All
is their estrangement
