Everything A Nascent Something New / Joshua Alan Sturgill

And why shouldn’t the Sun
have feathers
as all things have that fly?

And why shouldn’t the Sea
have scales,
green-in-silver waves to clothe
its darting depths?

And why shouldn’t a man
live half his life
asleep?  He has lost fellowship
with Consciousness.

And since his estrangement
from Beauty,
why shouldn’t his lust increase
unsatisfied?

And why shouldn’t he die
since his exile from Being
presumes a reversal

through sunless deserts
and arid seas,
home to where even symbols
have their origin?

And in its primality, its unicity
straining toward transfiguration,
why shouldn’t the Cosmos
be an Egg?
