Mud in Your Eye

Mud in Your Eye / Linda Lobmeyer

I had the thought, That one was for me.
The man who was blind, then made double blind
as Jesus covered his eyes with mud.
You are dirty, but it ain’t cause you can’t see.
He smeared symbol into his eyes so I’d see
my own need to wash in that pool which
when translated means sent. Where am I going,
Lord? Why am I not clean again?
My teacher spits in the dirt,
and says, Here’s mud in your eye,
which when translated means,
You’re filthy. Come have
a drink with me. This story,
He wants to make it about me.
