Solutions And Dissolutions /  Joshua Alan Sturgill

A candle and patience
A road and grace
A task with expectancy
— pairings
we overlook
in our hurry to hope
or to categorize.  Instead
we have sex
and boredom.
Friendship with envy.
War with no renovation.
We so often live
incongruities, slowly
accustoming ourselves
to the taste of dust
in our apples
or no taste at all
in our bread.

Why not hope
with stability?
Freedom as architecture?
Beauty in the newborn child?
By God, let me leap
over the walls
of categories, solve dissolution
with inversion:

Patience is the candle
Expectancy is the task
Grace is the mountain road
