The Ancient Modern
The Chase / Joshua Alan Sturgill
As I hunt
stealthily, in contemplation
through badlands of mysteries
through prairie wilds
where symbols that fell to earth
in former ages
remain exposed to heaven
into mountains which are the echo
of temples yet to be built,
as I pursue my quarry
polarities become confused
stars appear alongside the sun
and firm places
where the oceans preside.
Myths and doctrines
my weapons. Lunacy and tradition
my wings. Into truth
to capture truth
