What I Think When I Think Of The Moon /  Joshua Alan Sturgill

Moon, Moon
Luminous Moon!
Moon in the mid-morning sky
White as the icing on top of a cake
Bright as the white of an eye

Moon, Moon
Exuberant Moon!
Woven through afternoon clouds
A child delighting to play hide-and-seek
A favorite coin lost and found

Moon, Moon
Magnanimous Moon!
Lamp of night’s labyrinth above
Magnolia petal adrift on a lake
Clasp on a black satin glove

Moon, moon
Enigmatical Moon!
Mother and midwife of dreams
Silver-print photograph, pivot and pendulum
Bridging to be and to seem
