Darkly Bright Press is a small, independent book publisher with a focus on Uncommon Literature & Liturgical Christianity. Inspired by Welsh writer Arthur Machen’s emphasis on ecstasy in literature, our mission is to curate and spotlight such works by past voices and provide a platform for new authors, poets and artists.

The Ancient Modern
David Kern of the Circe Journal highlighted Joshua Alan Sturgill in an episode of The Daily Poem podcast. He read and offered thoughtful analysis on the poem As Though A Seed, which is found in Sturgill’s collection As Far As I Can Tell (2018). We learned about this a bit late in the game, but thanks to Phillp Neal Tippin for bringing the episode to our attention.
This week, we are pleased to present a new poem by Sturgill: Endgame.
NEW BOOK TO BE PUBLISHED THIS WEEKEND
On December 6, the Feast of St. Nicholas of Myra, Darkly Bright Press will publish our tenth book overall, and our fifth volume on the work of Arthur Machen: A Reader of Curious Books. For the first time since the 1880s, this rare material will be available to students of Machen’s literary legacy. For an excerpt, please read From a Lost Book Shelf.
